General FAQ's

How do I schedule a session?

To schedule a session with us, first you must contact us! We will schedule a time to meet you for a free consultation to discuss your ideas, and book your session. Please note that we will require a non-refundable session deposit to reserve your time slot. This fee will be deducted from your session costs due at the time of your shoot.

How long does it take before I get my photos?

As soon as possible! We know you are dying to see your shots, and we can’t wait to get them to you. On average, 7-10 days after the shoot, your edited images will appear in a private gallery on the Client Access page of our website. During busy periods, it may take up to 2 weeks before your gallery is ready. You will be given a private security code to access your gallery. No one else can see your shots or order prints from your shoot unless you choose to give them this access code. Through your gallery you can make all of your print and digital orders/downloads and choose from a variety of image backgrounds, styles, sizes, and retouching options.

Orders take approximately 1-2 weeks to process depending on the items ordered. Gallery canvas prints can take up to 3 weeks. Please see our Rate Sheet for more information about pricing.

Do you do your own printing?

No. You deserve much better than an inkjet print. We outsource our printing to a professional photo lab that works solely with professional photographers. We take great pride in our work, and will only offer the best quality products to our customers.

Where are you located?

Pop Rocket Studios is a licensed home-based photography studio located in the Northwest quadrant of Calgary near Crowfoot Centre. Please contact us to obtain our full address.

Do you do on-location photography?

Absolutely! Whether at your home, your favorite park, or a more trendy urban setting, we have equipment ready to travel! Contact us to find how to make arrangements. Locations within Calgary are no extra charge.

Do you accept debit and credit cards?

At this time we are only able to accept credit card and debit card payments via PayPal. If this is not an option you would like to use, we also accept cash and cheque.

Will you post my images online?

Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. We have a strict policy to only display images online that have been approved by a client in writing. For your own personal and private viewing, we will post your images into a password-protected gallery on our website for you to proof your images, make background selections, and order prints from. This gallery will only be in place for 90 days.

Do you offer other types of photography?

Absolutely! We are open to almost every style of personal portrait photography. If you can dream it, we can help!

Glamour, Pin-up and Boudoir FAQs

What should I bring to my glamour session?

Wardrobe - We do have a great selection of clothes, shoes, and accessories, but we advise you to bring your own as well. Although we offer a variety of retro and vintage outfits in a range of sizes from size 2-18, it is not possible to carry enough variety to fit everyone perfectly. Feel free to bring as much as you think you will need, even if it is a whole suitcase full! Don’t forget to bring any intimate wear you would like to wear as well – we suggest anything that makes you feel beautifully sexy. Most important of all bring a smile and your great sense of fun and adventure!

Props - We have some excellent props to help create an authentic look. If you have a specific prop idea in mind please let us know, and we can see what we have available prior to your session. You are welcome to bring whatever items you feel you my want included in your images.

Hair and Makeup – As we provide hair styling and makeup for glamour and pin-up sessions, we recommend that you wash your hair the night before your photography session rather than right before the session. We have found that freshly washed hair is usually harder to take and hold a style. This is especially true for curled or pin rolled styles. Also please arrive to your session without makeup applied to your face to provide us with a blank canvas to work with.

Who will be at my session?

Only Raeleen and Jennifer will be present for your shoot. It is completely normal for you to feel a bit nervous prior to posing for images of this nature, and we want to ensure you complete privacy at the time of your session. We will both be there to not only photograph, but to assist you with hair, makeup and various posing ideas to bring you into the best light.

Can I have a friend with me?

Yes, your friends are always welcome. Often bringing a friend can help you calm your nerves and feel more relaxed. We want you to look and feel your best, and being comfortable is a big part of that. We only request that you only bring 1 friend to your session to still allow us the room needed for us to work.

What if I’m not as perfect or young as I would like to be?

You are perfectly beautiful the way you are. As women ourselves, we know very well all of the various hang-ups women have about their bodies. Trust us when we say you have nothing to be ashamed about. As skilled professionals our goal is to bring out your positives and minimize any areas you are self-conscious about. Our greatest satisfaction is creating images that make you realize how beautiful you really are.

Still a little worried?

Don’t be. Jennifer and Raeleen are both highly accredited digital artists certified in Adobe Photoshop. If there is anything you would like to have expertly retouched we can definitely make that possible. Please see our Rate Sheet for our additional retouching services.

Do I have to be naked?

Definitely not. It is not at all required for you to pose in any way that makes you feel uncomfortable. It is fully up to you how much or how little you would like to reveal. We can accommodate for nude photography, if that is the type of images you would like, but we will never request or encourage that you pose in the buff.

Please note that we will never shoot pornography. Although each individual has a different idea of what constitutes pornography we do have limits and are not willing to shoot anything physically graphic or overtly sexual.

We take pride in taking images that are sophisticated, tasteful, and timeless. Our aim is to capture playful images that contain a level of delicate nuance and subtlety that emphasizes your own sensuality. We will never encourage or expect you to do anything you are the least bit uncomfortable with, and likewise, we will never shoot anything that we are uncomfortable representing our company with.

Digital Backgrounds FAQ’s

How do digital backgrounds work? What is the process?

As fully skilled digital artists we have developed a selection of original digital backgrounds that can be seamlessly applied to your images. During your consultation we will provide you with the URL to browse through our online catalog to find the ideal background for your images.

At the time of your shoot, we will pose you against a clean white backdrop, and adjust our lighting accordingly.

As with all of our photography sessions, within 2 weeks of your session your retouched images will appear in a private and password protected gallery on the Client Access page of our website. Through your gallery you are able to preview, pick your favorite images, and place a request for backdrop to be applied to the selected image(s) free of charge for up to 1 image. Additional images can be ‘backdropped’ or digitally altered for $45/image.

Once we receive your request we will skillfully place the chosen background into your image by hand, and once again place the processed images into your private online gallery for you to preview and order prints, disks, and downloads.

Why don’t you just place my background on all of my images?

The answer to this question is two-fold. Firstly, we only feel that it is fair to give you the chance to see your images first. This will give you the chance to pick out your favorite shots and give you the opportunity to change your mind on your backdrop choice.

Secondly, by choosing only your favorite images for further processing we are able to keep our post-production costs down, and save you money. Taking into consideration the time and skill it takes to process each image by hand, It only makes good economical sense for us to only apply backgrounds to the images you like best.

Can I request a custom designed background?

Absolutely! Your ideal image is our goal. If there is a specific look or design you want to achieve we are happy to work with you to create a custom background inspired by you.
